Captains gather ahead of IRB Women's Sevens World Series Round 4 in Guangzhou

It's all to play for at the top of the IRB Women's Sevens World Series standings, with rivals Australia and New Zealand finely balanced on 56 points each, and Canada in third place just eight points behind.

Thunder, lightning and heavy rainfall have been frequent visitors to southern China this week, but have not dampened the spirits of the 12 participating teams.

All squads are now in for this weekend's competition and the final touches are being put in place at the University Town Stadium, where the action kicks off on Saturday morning (GMT +8).

Speaking ahead of kick off on Saturday, England captain Abi Chamberlain said: "We're after having a few good weeks of training, and have brought a few new faces in to the squad so it's looking good."

"At the moment the form teams are New Zealand and Australia, but I just don't think there are easy games anymore. Teams are putting a lot of time and effort into Sevens and that is displayed on the circuit these days."

All the games from round 4 of the IRB Women's Sevens World Series will be streamed live on wsws.irb.com on Saturday and Sunday.
